LYMAN WHITAKER
An internationally renowned sculptor, Lyman is best known for his magical Wind Sculptures™ made of copper and stainless steel.
He learned classical sculpture techniques from Utah artist Avard Fairbanks, studied under contemporary sculptor Angelo Caravaglia, and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Utah in 1976. Since the 1980s, he has focused on capturing the spirit of the wind through his kinetic art.
His kinetic art is featured in many public art venues, including the Avenue Mall, Appleton, WI; along the rail system of the City of Whittier, CA; St. Louis University Museum and Missouri Botanical Garden, St. Louis, MO; Intermountain Dixie Regional Health & Performance Center, St. George, UT; and Raytheon’s corporate campus outside Denver, CO.
